"I didn't like it": In the state camp, the confrontation between Sa'ar and Levin was not viewed favorably

Knesset member Michael Biton ('the state camp') spoke this morning (Thursday) with Nissim Meshal and Prof. Aryeh Eldad on their program on 103FM and referred, among other things, to the coalition's decision to delay the bill to remove two representatives of the Bar Association from the committee for selecting judges.

Mashal pointed out that there are tensions in the opposition regarding the selection of the representative in the committee for the appointment of judges. And MK Biton admitted: "Even there they don't differentiate between the main thing to treat." The main thing is that there will be a situation where the opposition will have a representative, if the coalition nominates two candidates on its behalf, then it will not turn to peace, it will turn to a unilateral move and that is the end of the agreement discussion. If she nominates one representative from the coalition, we will demand to bring a candidate."

He also stated on the same subject: "If the coalition nominates two representatives – there is no discussion. If it nominates one representative and there is room for an opposition representative, the main thing is that there be an opposition representative and a coalition representative. It may be agreed, what happened here is that this is a media announcement that Lapid informed Gantz. They are still They have not decided on the question of who will be the representative of the opposition in the committee, and there is a chance that there will be an agreed representative."

Yariv Levin against Gideon Sa'ar

In addition, the Knesset member commented on the blunt exchange between MK Gideon Sa'ar and minister Yariv Levin last night in the Knesset plenum: "I didn't like it, Levin also said offensive things, but in the end everyone has to control their own language and how they approach the issue. Even when the dispute is serious, I try not to get personal with the person, but to stay on the topic itself. But beyond this interpersonal tension, the decision on the future of the reform is not related to the feelings of two people, but what is right for the country and how to stop this demonic dance."

As for the talks taking place at the President's House between the coalition and the opposition regarding the legal reform and its sections, he said: "The talks are serious and deep. There is a chance of agreement, it is very difficult, on the one hand we need to be careful about the things that are important to us, the red lines that we have presented, and at the same time find some path in which we will remove order Today the thing that divides the people, which has created a very difficult reality in the last months. There is a chance, as long as it exists, the potential of these talks should be exhausted."

"We believe that as long as there are talks about agreements in the president's house, unilateral steps are not taken, and then an outline was proposed to remove the section from the vote on the same day – what we call a bill and debate for another time. Since he was tense and had bad blood, they contacted Levin live and told him, 'Come "Let's agree not to vote on this thing," he disagreed. But beyond that – we must not lose sight of the big picture and the interest of the Israeli public. The big picture should not be affected by interpersonal tensions," Bitton emphasized.
