IDF blocks roads near Gaza border amid concerns over civilian settlement attempts

Breaking

The Israel Defence Forces have begun blocking routes near Kibbutzim Netzarim and Kfar Aza on Friday, citing concerns that Israeli civilians may attempt to enter the Gaza Strip to establish unauthorised settlements.

Police evacuated civilians who had gathered in Shomoni Forest overnight. The IDF now fears activists may attempt to reach the border via alternative routes to establish a new settlement point facing Gaza City.

More than 700 people, including dozens of families, bereaved families, and IDF-wounded soldiers, participated in overnight operations to establish a settlement point opposite Gaza City, according to reports. Activists erected structures and basic infrastructure, demanding the government transfer the settlement into Gaza Strip territory.

The Nachala movement is simultaneously demanding the repeal of the Disengagement Law. This reflects ongoing tensions around settlement policy and the status of territories in the Gaza region.
