IDF ends controversial 11-day Hebron operation following deadly shooting attack

Breaking

The Israeli Defence Force has concluded an 11-day military operation in Hebron that displaced approximately 3,300 Palestinians, following a deadly shooting attack that killed two soldiers. The operation, which was launched in response to the attack, has been approved for closure by Defence Minister Israel Katz after Israel’s recent elections.

According to Times of Israel reporting, the controversial raid resulted in limited tangible security gains, with only four firearms seized during the entire 11-day period. The operation had drawn international attention and criticism regarding civilian displacement and its proportionality to the original incident.

The decision to end the operation represents a shift in security policy priorities following the electoral period, with defence officials moving to reduce the military footprint in the West Bank city.
