The IDF has appointed the first commander of its newly established Space Division, marking a significant expansion of Israel’s military capabilities into orbital and space-based operations. Defence Minister Israel Katz described the development as ‘Star Wars, made in Israel’.

The Space Division will oversee force buildup and conduct military operations beyond Earth’s atmosphere. The appointment reflects Israel’s growing focus on space as a critical domain for future warfare and defence.

Alongside the Space Division, the military also selected heads of a new Robotics Division and revived its tank brigade command structure, indicating a comprehensive modernisation of the IDF’s operational capabilities across multiple technological domains.
