In preparation for the Feast of Omer, an initiative in Beit Shemesh: no child will be left without a bonfire

On the eve of Beit Shemesh, the "Choose to Light" operation is taking place, which is intended to fight against the phenomenon of boycotts in the education system. Before the operation, its initiators noted that no one is left alone at Be'Omer, adding: "We are interested, ask and make sure that everyone is invited."

The initiative began when a community manager in the municipality of Beit Shemesh decided, with the cooperation of a patrol of volunteer parents, to make a silent appeal to the municipal education system, according to which no one stays at home for the holiday of Omer. Feels comfortable in his frame – will be able to name LG Baumer in an alternative frame. For this purpose, the volunteers of the patrol, together with the community wing, created alternative fires.

The municipality stated that the fight to prevent boycotts among students and the discussion regarding the serious consequences of the phenomenon are the focus of the volunteer parents' activities in preparation for the Jewish holiday of Omer, and that this week they were also engaged in this within the school.

"We are happy to see the mobilization of volunteer parents, in order to strengthen the joint activity with the students, which says that there is no place for a boycott," said Moran Yitzhak, Director of the Community Division in the Education Directorate, and added: "LG Baumer bonfires are a social gathering, and they are another point in our activity in this area . In Beit Shemesh, they choose to shine a light on Lag BaOmer, they choose to see the good and say that there is room for everyone. A significant investment in preventive activities strengthens the social fabric."

Aliza Bloch, Mayor of Beit Shemesh, concluded: "In Beit Shemesh, we want to take responsibility for the students of the city. It is important for us, in addition to quality educational work, to also wrap the students within the framework of a community wing beyond school hours. This is one of the most exciting projects operating in the city."
