Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claim strike on US Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed on Wednesday that they had attacked facilities belonging to the United States Fifth Fleet stationed in Bahrain. According to the Iranian statement, the strike targeted command and control centres, logistics infrastructure, fuel depots and military equipment at the base. The Guards said the operation was carried out in response to what they described as American military activities in the Indian Ocean and efforts to control the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important shipping routes. The base in Bahrain serves as the headquarters for the US Fifth Fleet, which oversees American naval operations across the Middle East and Arabian Sea.
