A major investigation by Time magazine has exposed Israel’s direct involvement in a mechanism for transferring Qatari funds to Gaza, according to documents published Sunday. The investigation, based on official correspondence and testimony from Israeli, American and Arab officials, reveals that Netanyahu received evidence over a year prior that Qatari money was being used for Hamas military buildup.

According to reports from Ynet, Walla and other sources, a letter signed by former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen praised Qatar’s assistance to Gaza, while Israeli officials publicly criticised Doha. The documents show that Israeli government officials, including former Mossad chief Dedi Barnea, requested that Qatar continue transferring funds to Gaza, just two weeks before the October 7 attacks.

The investigation details Netanyahu’s knowledge of the situation and the government’s efforts to maintain the funding mechanism despite public criticism of Qatar. This revelation raises significant questions about Israel’s role in the financial arrangements with the Palestinian territory during this period.
