Widespread gun trafficking and lawlessness grip Negev region as shooting incidents persist

Breaking

A large region in Israel’s Negev is experiencing widespread lawlessness characterised by persistent shooting incidents linked to illegal weapons trafficking, according to Ynet reporting. Residents report that dealers are continuously moving weapons in circulation for prospective buyers, with incidents occurring both day and night across a vast geographic area.

Local residents express frustration and despair about the situation, stating: “We feel like we’ve gone backwards. All efforts are just a drop in the ocean.” Despite the phenomenon not being new, the scale and intensity are causing serious concern among Negev inhabitants.

Police authorities dispute the characterisation, insisting that “the volume of shooting incidents in the area has decreased.” However, residents’ testimony contradicts official claims, describing a sense of continuous threat and lawlessness that has worsened despite alleged police efforts to address the problem.
