David Strafield, the envoy for humanitarian affairs of the Biden administration, today (Thursday) blamed the disengagement plan and the prime minister who carried it out, Ariel Sharon, for the current situation in the Gaza Strip.

"Our advice to Ariel Sharon at the time was: he proposed a siege and isolation of Gaza. We told him you need to open up Gaza to the maximum extent possible," said Strafield.
"The increase in aid over the past few days does not compensate for five months of a completely different reality than the situation today, there is an immediate risk of starvation for most, if not all, of the 2.2 million population of Gaza," Strafield added.
