The prosecution unit of the Negev region on Sunday submitted an indictment and a request for detention until the end of proceedings against a 16-year-old boy, a resident of the village of Sawa in the south, for the offenses of car theft, causing actual bodily harm as a result of an accident, reckless driving, driving without a driver's license and without insurance.
The indictment states that the boy, together with another minor, stole a car that was parked in the school parking lot and drove it. Later, when he arrived near Basis Hatzeri, he swerved with the vehicle into the opposite lane and collided with another car. Despite this, he continued driving and hit another vehicle and seriously injured the driver who was hospitalized in Soroka Hospital with fractures to her body.
The investigation unit of the appeals station started an accelerated and quick investigation, during which it was able to tie the boy's involvement to the commission of the act. The accused was detained for questioning and his detention was extended from time to time by the Beer Sheva Magistrate's Court and upon completion of the investigation and the collection of evidence, an indictment was filed against the accused and a request for detention until the end of the legal proceedings against him.
