The United States is deploying three aircraft carriers to the Middle East, according to reports, as the Pentagon has developed contingency plans for a potential military campaign against Iran. The New York Times reported that the Pentagon has prepared a three-day operational plan, signalling escalated military readiness in the region.
This deployment comes amid ongoing tensions over Iranian nuclear activities and regional security concerns. The move represents a significant show of force by the United States in a strategically critical area.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran remains open to negotiations, telling mediators that Iran awaits the United States’ final position on Tehran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasised that “only a negotiated agreement can resolve the crisis,” indicating potential diplomatic channels remain open despite military preparations.
