Shavuot is the last festive and family holiday that we celebrate before the arrival of summer and the big holiday. A holiday that is much less formal than the other holidays, happy and bright and painted in beautiful, clean and pure colors. Along with the salads, pastries and cheesecakes, here are some rules for decorating the holiday table.
1. Flowers! flowers! Flowers Our first tip for a holiday that is all about the essence of nature, is to place a vase or even more in the center of the table – depending on the size of the table. Shavuot symbolizes the transition from spring to summer, so it is recommended to decorate with flowers at the peak of their season and bloom. You can put one impressive bouquet in the center of the table or alternatively, several smaller bouquets along the table. Everything that increases in vases is fine. We recommend filling the vases with bouquets of wild flowers. They can even be fresh flowers you picked from the garden or a collection of green branches. Vases with flowers enhance the feeling of nature at the table and give us the feeling that we have brought the field into the house.
2. The table wears white On Shabbat we usually wear white, and this is how we also recommend dressing the holiday table. White porcelain and ceramic dishes will enhance the feeling of the holiday and add an element of elegance and festivity, and of course will be combined with the white foods and cheeses. Can be combined with gold-colored cutlery that recalls the colors of the oats – one of the symbols of the holiday.
3. Choosing the dishes – after you have chosen the colors, let's decide on the dishes. When choosing the dinnerware, you can go in the direction of ceramic or porcelain dishes in different glazes and textures or rather create an interesting play of transparencies using clear glass dishes. Whatever you choose, don't forget to add festive wine glasses.
4. Colorful is also possible. It is also allowed to break away from the clichés that everything should be white and combine items with slightly different colors on the holiday table. Place a colored plate on top of a white plate. It will give your table an eclectic, chic and joyful feel. Mixing styles creates a sense of uniqueness and personal style. Define the color palette in advance – the choice of colors will create a framework for you according to which you will choose the map, tools and decorative accessories and create a complete and beautiful story. On the one hand, you can choose more elegant and classic directions and design a table in white or natural tones, and on the other hand, you can be bolder and go in more springy directions of the blooming colors. There are no rules.
5. Rattan and straw items Place small rattan baskets on the table and place the sum, napkins or a cluster of bread wrapped in cloth or paper in them. Rattan baskets best symbolize the holiday and will increase the feeling of nature on the table, what's more, they go well with the color white. You can Also simply fill them with fruits or hard cheeses in their packaging.
6. A map is important, but it is also possible without it. We are on a holiday that is all about saluting nature, so if you have a natural wooden table, you can place the dishes directly on it, without a table. Unprocessed wood gives a feeling of wild nature and gives a warm and natural feeling. If you still want to place a tablecloth, we recommend using tablecloths and cloth napkins that receive special attention in the form of rings and reliefs, rich textures and exciting finishes. These will add richness to the holiday table.
7. Estimates in advance – the last and most important tip in preparing for the hospitality is to get ahead and prepare the holiday table a day or two before the event itself. Unlike cooking, a table that is set and ready ahead of time will not lose its umbrella, on the contrary, it will allow you to think about the desired concept at ease and implement it in the best and most convenient way for you. Happy holiday!
