Security forces identified and neutralised a terrorist in Jerusalem’s Old City hours after the conclusion of Selichot prayers on Wednesday evening. The individual entered through the Damascus Gate before attempting to stab soldiers with a knife.

IDF and border police personnel responded by opening fire on the assailant after he wielded the knife and attempted to attack them. No Israeli casualties were reported in the incident.

A Magav commander stated: ‘The soldiers acted with courage – exactly as I expect from them.’ The incident occurred in close proximity to the Western Wall, one of Judaism’s holiest sites.
