At the beginning of the interview, Brigadier General Avivi said: "We have been celebrating the parade of flags since the war, the first parade was right after that in '68, and we have been celebrating this parade ever since. There really is an extensive preparation of the police in Judea and Samaria as well as in East Jerusalem, and of course with one possibility or another that Hamas will want to shoot."

"Ultimately, this parade passes through the heart of the Old City, there is no reason for it to be any other way and it is forbidden under any circumstances to incite the parade only towards the Jewish quarter. He also claimed: "A Jew in the Land of Israel, wherever he wants to go, he needs to be safe. We have seen in recent years that insecurity is increasing, the campaign is designed precisely to make sure that everywhere we feel safe, whether it is in mixed cities, whether it is in East Jerusalem, In the Galilee, in the Negev or in Judea and Samaria. This phenomenon is everywhere and I am happy that this parade is being held as planned."

Finally, he concluded: "I think that precisely when we are proud and wave our flags in the sky, it actually creates more security and more deterrence than deteriorates security. We must not look down, we should be happy, celebrate the unification of Jerusalem as we have done from day one and if we have to protect ourselves We will do it. Our very existence as Jews in the Land of Israel is something that brings with it terrorism and problems.
