The US Senate will meet today (Tuesday) to vote on providing a $95 billion aid package to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, in what should be the last step in completing the legislation, before sending it to President Joe Biden's desk for approval. All this after months of delays and disputes between the Democrats and Republicans on the extent of the involvement of the US in international issues.

61 billion dollars from the package is intended for Ukraine, which desperately needs new firepower in light of the increase in Russian attacks in recent times. Biden told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky last night that the US would soon send air defense weapons. The House of Representatives approved the package on Saturday in a series of four votes and sent it back to the Senate for final approval. "The president assured me that the package would be approved quickly and that it would be powerful and strengthen our air defense , as well as the long-range capabilities and artillery," Zelensky tweeted.
Of the rest of the amount, $17 billion is designated for wartime aid to Israel and $9 billion for humanitarian aid to Gaza. The remaining 8 billion dollars will go to Taiwan to help in its confrontation with China. In an effort to get more votes, House Republicans added a bill to the package that could ban the social network TikTok in the US if its Chinese owners don't sell their stake within a year.
