Member of Knesset Dan Iluz (Likud) sent a letter to the South African ambassador in Israel following the cancellation of the participation of an Israeli team in the 'Mzansi Challenge' rugby tournament, as a result of calls from the BDS movement.
"A shared vision of freedom is expected to fight the boycott movement and not surrender to it. Sport is a bridge to friendship and must be allowed to rise above petty and divisive politics," wrote Habakkuk Iloz on his Twitter page.
The initiative for the letter came after the Israeli rugby team 'Tel Aviv Heats' received a notice canceling their participation in the tournament to be held in South Africa. The decision was made by the South African Rugby Union (SARU), who stated in a public announcement on the matter that it was made after listening to the views of important stakeholder groups."
