Believe it or not, 51 donkeys are scheduled to fly to France this coming Saturday. If you asked yourself – why the hell are these donkeys being flown to France? Isn't it easier to grow them in the country? And what do I do to join? The answer is quite simple: the donkeys were rescued from different places in Israel after being abused, and only after a long rehabilitation process on the farm to "start over" are they sent abroad to save on the costs of maintaining them in Israel. Believe it or not, in France donkeys are considered legitimate pets, just like dogs and cats, And so thanks to their flight to Europe, there is a free place to take in new donkeys in need of help and medical treatment. So yes, definitely enough reasons to continue transporting them from place to place.
This is not the first time that the farm flies donkeys. In 2022, 201 donkeys were flown to France, and this year another 300 are planned to be flown. So far, the program has been a great success, especially for the donkeys, who receive unusual conditions in France, such as green lawns, streams of water and ideal weather, all of this at the new farm that receives them called Latnier.
The person responsible for the entire flight process is Frankie Delid together with Challenge Airlines. As you can probably imagine, flying farm animals is not a simple process, for this it requires skilled personnel who load the donkeys from the farm in Israel onto trucks, at the airport they are divided into groups of ten, after which the donkeys are put on a special plane and then when they land it is another seven hours of continuous travel to the destination the desired If you thought standing in line at the airport was a nightmare, you'll have to ask Sharon Cohen, the director of the association, what it means to fly on a transport plane with fifty-one donkeys, and you'll get a new perspective on the phrase "I'm tired of the flight".
The "Start Again" association is the only farm in Israel that continues to take in animals in need around the clock and does everything to provide a response to animals that need help 24/7.
Many of the "famous" donkeys whose abuse we were exposed to on social media, such as the donkey that was doused with vodka or another donkey that soldiers recently rescued from a river, were saved thanks to the actions and intervention of "Start Again" and of course thanks to the one who runs the association in an unusual way Sharon Cohen.
Because the farm receives so many new cases the farm's expenses have reached up to 450,000 per month. Although thanks to the Ministry of Environmental Protection this year another 35 donkeys will be flown in as part of a collaborative project between the ministry and the association, but the farm is still largely supported by donations from private individuals who love animals and want to help. So that Cohen's plan could come to fruition, she started a crowdfunding project aimed at helping with the costs of flying more donkeys and the operation of the association.
