Attempted attack thwarted at Damascus Gate in Old City Jerusalem

Israeli police have confirmed that an attempted attack was foiled overnight Friday in Jerusalem’s Old City. A suspect who approached security forces at the Damascus Gate area attempted to carry out an attack and was neutralised by police and security personnel.

No injuries among police and security forces have been reported at this stage. The incident occurred in one of Jerusalem’s most sensitive and heavily trafficked areas, located at the entrance to the Old City’s Muslim Quarter.

Initial reports indicate the threat was successfully contained by rapid response from security forces operating in the area.
