The Israeli Defence Force is examining a framework for deploying international forces to dismantle terrorist infrastructure in Gaza, modelled on the arrangement in southern Lebanon, according to first reports.

The proposal, coordinated with the United States, would begin in areas outside the defined perimeter, meaning Israeli combat forces would not formally withdraw from any specific zone. The framework differs from previous discussions by focusing on infrastructure clearing rather than territorial control.

The cabinet reportedly approved a pilot operation in Rafah approximately one month ago. The international force deployment would operate under a similar structure to UNIFIL operations in Lebanon, though adapted for Gaza’s specific security requirements.
