Gunman shot dead at Old City after drawing knife near Western Wall

Soldiers shot and killed an armed attacker in Jerusalem’s Old City hours after a Selichot (forgiveness) ceremony concluded. The assailant entered through the Damascus Gate and was identified by troops, who fired after he drew a knife and attempted to stab them.

The incident represents a direct security threat in a sensitive location. A military commander stated: “The soldiers acted with courage—exactly as I expect from them.” The quick response prevented potential casualties among security personnel.
