A major military operation targeting a Hezbollah strategic facility resulted in a massive explosion using approximately 1,100 tonnes of explosives, according to Ynet reporting. New satellite imagery shows significant changes to the terrain in the strike zone near the facility’s location.
In a notable development, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun unexpectedly visited Nabbatieh, located approximately 3.5 kilometres from the strike site, and made public statements to residents. Aoun declared that “withdrawal, prisoners and reconstruction are national principles” and committed to their implementation, signalling continued diplomatic engagement despite the military action.
However, the diplomatic momentum faces headwinds: planned negotiations scheduled for the following week were postponed. Lebanese media reports indicate a growing disconnect between the presidential palace and Hezbollah leadership, with disagreements over the scheduled talks in Rome regarding a monitoring mechanism with Israel.
