OpenAI delays IPO to 2027 over AI safety concerns

Sam Altman has postponed OpenAI’s highly anticipated public offering, originally planned for 2026, citing unresolved artificial intelligence safety issues and autonomous agent risks. The decision means Wall Street will have to wait longer for access to the AI firm’s shares, while competitor Anthropic moves ahead with its own IPO expected in November. Altman stated that becoming a public company is not the right move at this time given current AI safety questions.
