The first factory for the production of thermal energy storage was inaugurated in the south

Israeli pride: after the cherry tomatoes, the drips, Wise – Israel will soon become the leading manufacturer and exporter of thermal energy storage facilities, one of the most prominent areas of climate technology in the world. Barnmiller Energy, an Israeli cleantech company and one of the leaders in the field of heat storage in Israel and in the world, inaugurated this week in Dimona the first plant of its kind in the world for the commercial production of ground-breaking heat storage facilities.

The company has developed a thermal energy storage facility by using crushed rock as the storage material, which absorbs energy from various sources, converts it into heat energy that enables continuous electricity supply according to various needs, shifting loads and flattening consumption peaks. This avoids high costs in money, air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from gas and fuels in electricity consumption and energy efficiency increases.

The bGen system, as it is called, provides continuous energy in all weather conditions, and achieves its main goal – zero emissions of carbon dioxide and zero environmental pollution. The system was designed to use environmentally friendly materials. Bernmiller Energy, whose people developed the efficient and cost-effective technology that is already installed in massive projects in Italy, Brazil, the USA and soon in various European countries, is expected to employ dozens of workers in Dimona.

The factory was established with significant funding from the European Union and is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, meets the highest international standards for quality control and solar panels are installed on its roof, in order to increase the use of renewable energy.

Avi Barnmiller, founder and CEO of Barnmiller Energy, explains: "In order to reduce emissions in the industrial sector, heat storage is required which will connect the changing availability of renewable electricity sources such as wind and solar to the energy needs around the clock. The inauguration of the world's first factory for the massive production of energy storage facilities, a blue-white development, symbolizes a major milestone in the history of our company."

Heat storage is the hottest field today, when it comes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in industry. Burning fossil fuels to produce heat and energy accounts for approximately 50% of all global CO2 emissions, and industrial plants alone contribute 30% of all emissions related to fossil fuels worldwide. From the knowledge available today, energy storage technologies based on batteries do not provide a solution for the industry, hence the importance of the development that is already proving itself.
