Sometimes, phone scams become so sophisticated that they are almost impossible to distinguish from real phone calls, emails and text messages. The British "Daily Mail" with the most effective coping tips.
Make sure they know your nicknames: If friends send you a message from a new number or email address, ask them to give you your nickname before you continue communicating with them.
Ask to know the balance in your account: If someone calls from a financial organization where you are a customer, ask them to give you details from your account. Scammers will almost certainly not have access to this data, while a genuine representative should be able to answer this.
They will not leave a message: When you receive calls from unknown phone numbers, there is no need to answer immediately, if the caller is not in your contact list. Authentic callers will leave a message.
Only call back if you're sure about the number: If you're going to call them back, make sure you know how to reach them by name and know which department they're calling from. Never call them back at the number they gave you.
Tell them to write to you: Ask the person calling to write to you – but do not give them your addresses. Trusted callers will have these details in advance.
