Female soldiers barred from advanced driving course, told it is for men only

Breaking

Female combat soldiers were informed just two days before the start of an operational driving course that they were ineligible to participate, as the course was designated “for men only”. The unexpected exclusion has prompted complaints from the affected servicewomen.

One soldier whose participation was prevented stated: “When it suits them to call on women, now it doesn’t fit – it’s infuriating.” A sergeant who had previously completed the course successfully expressed frustration at the discrimination, noting: “They understood very well that I am exactly like each of them. Women are capable of performing this role.”

The incident raises questions about gender discrimination policies within the military training system and equal opportunity provisions for female personnel.
