Israeli Shin Bet chief Zini meets AG amid tensions over election fraud investigation

Breaking

Shin Bet chief Zini met with the Attorney General in what sources characterised as an attempt to calm escalating tensions stemming from his controversial actions during the foreign interference investigation. The Times of Israel reported that Zini stated he would follow the law during the probe.

The meeting follows significant anger directed at Zini from law enforcement officials. Government sources have lambasted the Shin Bet chief as “negligent” and accused him of “parroting” Prime Minister Netanyahu, particularly regarding his handling of investigations into the Arab sector concerning alleged election interference claims.

Ynet reported that despite initially lacking evidence, the Shin Bet has begun transferring investigation materials to police regarding ballot box concerns in the Arab sector. This development suggests a shift in investigative direction and possible coordination between security and law enforcement agencies.
