Suspected dangerous chemical leak reported at Intel facility in Kiryat Gat, days after fatal explosion

Breaking

A suspected leak of dangerous materials was reported on Monday at the Intel manufacturing facility in Kiryat Gat, just days after a nitrogen tank explosion killed one worker and injured two others on the same site last week. Both Ynet and Walla reported the incident, with firefighting crews and workers from the Labour Ministry and Environmental Protection Ministry dispatched to the location.

According to reports, workers were instructed to shelter in place as a precautionary measure. Ynet and Walla differ slightly on timing details, with Walla indicating the leak was discovered during investigations by Labour Ministry inspectors examining the circumstances of the previous explosion, while Ynet reports it as a separate suspected incident.

The Magen David Adom (MDA) confirmed there were no casualties reported from the incident. Officials stated there was no immediate danger to residents in the surrounding area, though the incident raises serious questions about safety protocols at the facility following last week’s fatal explosion.
